To make sure we get all the nutrients we need for good health, eat a rainbow of colors. Here are health benefits that align with the color of fruits and vegetables.
Heart & Memory – RED
Red foods include apples, cranberries, grapes, pomegranates, raspberries, strawberries, watermelon, tomatoes, red grapefruit, radishes, radicchio, red peppers and red onions.
Vision, strong bones and teeth – GREEN
Green foods include kale, apples, grapes, kiwi, honeydew, avocado, broccoli, spinach, collards, okra, artichoke, zucchini, lettuce, celery, cucumber, beans, and asparagus.
Healthy aging, heart and memory – PURPLE/BLUE
Purple/blue foods include blackberries, plums, blueberries, figs, eggplant, purple cabbage, grapes, and elderberries.
Healthy immune system, heart, and blood pressure – WHITE
White foods include banana, cauliflower, mushrooms, onions, garlic, potatoes, white currants, white peaches and white nectarines.
